Type of event: We have produced a film entitled "Alaska Far Away: The
New Deal Pioneers of the Matanuska Colony" about the New Deal Resettlement
community created in Palmer, Alaska in 1935. This film will be showing on
September 21 in Overland Park, Kansas, as part of the Kansas International
Film Festival.
JAN-JULY The Southeast Kansas Farm
History Center is conducting a year long (began in Aug. 2008) oral
history project funded by the Kansas Humanities Council to captre the
recollections of local residents regarding the impact of the New Deal on
the region’s farm families
